About Me

I am a mom.

Raising three children provides endless opportunities for reflection as you discover what works (and what doesn’t!) for each of the little personalities you are trying to shape. My parenting stories are sparked by observations and interactions as my children learn and grow.

For the past 20 years, I have experienced every realm of growth and development in children, from newborn to teen to adulthood. I have first-hand knowledge of differences in raising girls versus boys, introverts versus extroverts, and everything in-between. It’s been an unscripted journey with exponential rewards!

I am an educator.

My educational journey has traversed the United States for more than 20 years to include experiences as elementary classroom teacher, differentiation specialist, technology integrator, and instructional coach. I hold a masters degree in Educational Leadership with PK-12 administrative licensure, guiding leaders at all levels to excel. In 2018, I received the R.E.B. Award for Teaching Excellence and was honored as the 2019 Teacher of the Year for Mechanicsville Elementary School. I am passionate about choice and voice, presenting at local, state, and international conferences.

I am a writer.

I began my writing journey in 2012, creating a blog to celebrate kindness for my 40th birthday. Five years later, I expanded my writing to include topics of leadership, education, and parenting on this website which has been shared across social media platforms, on websites, and in magazine articles. On February 14, 2019, I released my first book, A Passion for Kindness: Making the World a Better Place to Lead, Love, and Learn, which was listed as a #1 New Release on Amazon for Philosophy and Social Aspects of Education and a Recommended Summer Reading choice by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP).
