Who can be a part of The Starfish Club?

The Starfish Club is for all people. It includes students, educators, police, first responders, and other community partners. All of us in our different professions have unique skill sets, but we all have one common goal: to help people and make a difference, one life at a time. I’m enjoying this new journey with like-minded individuals who, like me, lead with the heart, prioritize people and passionately believe that we all have the power to make a difference for others, and we should all try!

What’s an example of kindness you’ve received?

I’ve received overwhelming support from Twitter friends in loving my poetry and encouraging me to take the road less traveled to pursue my writing passion after a 20 year hiatus from writing. A good friend helped me host my first twitter chat in March 2018 through Mastery Chat. We spent several hours working on the slides as I was able to prepare all the material but needed help with the tech piece. He really believed in me and wanted me to do a chat to challenge myself and try something new. My chat on growth mindset was a big success and one of the best experiences of my life.

Who inspires you to show kindness to others?

I’m inspired to share kindness by my friends and family, my students, as well as my Twitter family. I’ve seen a huge need for more kindness in the world and I’m committed to doing my part to make it happen by creating quiet ripples that go forth into the world, one day at a time. Together with global friends and the creation of international partnerships surrounding kindness, we are all committed to helping people and making a bigger difference in whatever part of the world we are from.
